Goodbye Garth, Hello Ghostopolis

Hurray! We have finally made it through the next book, or should I say comic? Yes, we are now reading a book called Ghostopolis and it is very interesting! Since this is a comic book, I'll be able to finish reading it very quickly! Now lets start the new adventure! In the first few pages (not chapters) we get to meet our wonderful main character, Garth. He seems like a playful boy and very unique with his imagination. Another character we get to see is Frank, an employee at the Supernatural Immigration Task Force Head Quarters, and his job is to catch ghosts and send them back to Ghostopolis. Now, back to Garth. Unfortunately he is going through some tough times as he and his mother is notified of the rare and incurable disease Garth has. The doctor tells both of them that he doesn't have much time left. Later on, Frank goes back to headquarters to see if he has to find more ghosts. His boss finally tells him the location and goes to a creepy house where he finds something very surprising. Meanwhile, Garth and his mother arrive at their house all sad. He starts a conversation talking about his dead grandfather while his mother cooks. The discussion takes a wrong turn when his mother calls Garth's grandfather a drunk. Suddenly, he goes up to his room to lay on his bed. When Frank finally arrives at the given location, he finds a horse ghost! He tries his best to catch him, but it's to difficult. The horse escapes and goes through a wall into another house, Garth's house. Suddenly, the horse goes above the kid and gets caught up inside his ribcage. As the horse struggles to move, Frank pressed the button to send the animal straight back to Ghostopolis. The bad this is... The horse was sent with Garth inside! Sadly, because of this, Frank got fired. But he doesn't give up yet! He goes to a secret garage where his ghostly ex girlfriend lives and asks her for help. Since Clair is a mechanic, she has built a machine which can travel to Ghosopolis. But the thing is, this machine only has enough power to travel there and then come back to Earth. So they have one chance! Meanwhile, in Ghostopolis (where Garth is trapped), he gets to tame the horse and even give it a name, Skinny. Suddenly, they both get chased by zombie velociraptor's. Sadly, thats where we end!
QUOTES
1.) "Grampa was poor and he learned how to fly a plane."
- pg. 20 (Doug TenNaple)
- Since this isn't a serious comic book, the quotes aren't that serious either. But this one made me think how this could teach the readers something valuable. That lesson could show the audience how anything is possible and that it doesn't matter how rich or poor you are. Another lesson can be how you should never give up the dreams you really want.
2.) "STOP! Stop acting like you care and tell me the truth! You're not telling me anything are you?!"
- pg. 41 (Doug TenNaple)
- This is a quote directly from the mother the day her son went missing. Since Garth is the only kid she has, she is very worried, angry, frustrated and depressed. Frank Gallows doesn't really seem to be worried about her feelings, and that is whats causing her to be very angry with him. But later on, he finds a solution.
Conclusion
Wow! I really like this comic book! It grabbed my attention and I can't wait to read more! The topic is really awesome and it gets right to the point without having a terribly long beginning. There is drama, comedy, spookiness and a little bit of love. I predict that in the next pages, Garth will face terrible dangers with the dead in Ghostopolis! But we'll see! Until next time!
